Use case

Summarize any page or PDF, right where you read it.

Open the side panel, ask one question, and Pie turns long articles and reports into key points you can act on — without copying text into another app.

What is this article about? Summarize it in three points.
Assistant

I’ll read the article structure, then extract its argument and evidence.

Done

The article argues that AI assistants are moving out of the chat window and into the browser itself. Three takeaways:

  • Argumentchat alone can’t carry multi-step tasks; page context plus browser actions is the missing piece.
  • Evidencethree case studies — form filling, cross-tab price checks, scheduled reports — saved about 40 minutes a week.
  • Next stepstart with your most repeated browser routine: record it once, then hand it to automation.

How it works

01

Open the page or PDF

Works on articles, docs, and PDFs open in Chrome — including reports that run past a hundred pages.

02

Ask in one sentence

“Summarize this in three points” or “find the pricing changes” — plain language is enough.

03

Get points you can use

Pie reads the structure first, then returns key points with the evidence that backs them.

Why summarize with Pie.

Long PDFs are fine

Pie uses the document outline to find the pages that matter instead of truncating at a length limit.

Free with your own key

Bring your own API key and Pie itself costs nothing — no extra summary subscription.

Follow-up friendly

A summary is a starting point. Keep asking about the same page until you have exactly what you need.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can Pie summarize PDFs as well as web pages?

Yes. Pie reads PDFs open in Chrome, uses the outline to locate the relevant sections, and summarizes long reports without a separate upload step.

Is summarizing with Pie free?

Yes, with your own API key — Pie itself is free and open source. Prefer zero setup? Pie Membership includes a model lineup for a flat monthly price.

Does the page content leave my browser?

With your own key, requests go directly to your model provider — nothing routes through Pie. With Membership, requests go through Pie's service. Pie collects no product analytics in either mode.

How long a document can Pie handle?

Pie doesn't read everything blindly. It searches the outline and relevant pages first, so even a 160-page report stays workable.
